NEWS: Woodlands Sheds Launch Apprenticeship Scheme
Woodlands Sheds have launched a new apprenticeship scheme, for the first time in its 104 year trading history, to give young people the opportunity to join the fast-paced garden building manufacturer.
In September 2017 they have welcomed 3 students into the business in a new initiative as part of the company’s long term strategy to develop the manufacturing talent of the future.
During their apprenticeship course, which is due to last between 12-14 months, the students will gain a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Performing Manufacturing Operations. The course will also teach the entire process of garden building manufacture; from timber cutting, to manufacture of the garden sheds and log cabins, to health & safety on site, and quality control of the products.
“We are excited to welcome our first group of apprentices to the team. We are hoping that this apprenticeship scheme will help develop our workforce and provide a team of local young adults with the chance of further education and a career. This will be the start of what will be a regular slot within our calendar and a great opportunity to bring young talent through the business.” Jodi Perks - HR and Health and Safety Senior manager.
The apprenticeship scheme isn’t the only exciting project that Woodlands is working on. The company is set to embark on further ambitious growth and development plans within the next 12 months, including the roll out of internal business development and communication groups, a new fully interactive digital learning and development tracking system and a wide range of new career progression and training opportunities. Jodi added “We have some very talented people within our company, who we want to make sure we look after and mentor them into the next stage in their career.”
